Obvious Ideas, Makes the Money

TheMIDB just launched. It's the internet movie database (imdb) for music. You guys sure have visited imdb, when you wanted to find the name of that actor/actress in that movie you just saw.

Whoa, this is one of those ideas where you're like, man why didn't I come up with that... IMDB for musicians.

So I'm assuming there would be album details, track details, song details. For instance if when Brandy did a duet with Monica, for "That Boy is Mine." that would be noted...

I am not sure, but maybe the site should expand on it. Have a database for all people in the music industry. Producers, studios, etc.

This is one example where a good idea is obvious once it has been done. It didn't try to be clever, just took something that was already popular, spun it, and made it it's own.

That's innovation at work. That's why there are patent laws, to spur innovation.

A person invents the stool. He takes out a patent on the stool. So no one can make/sell the stool without going through him first for 10 years.

Another person invents the chair. Takes out a patent on the chair. However, the chair uses the previous person patent on the stool. So what do they do?

Both parties decide to share the idea. That both are able to sell the chair before the patent is up.
